Infrastructure Design Reimagined
Autodesk InfraWorks Overview
InfraWorks software supports connected BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes, letting designers and civil engineers plan and design infrastructure projects in the context of the real world. Features include:
- Model: Use large amounts of data to establish a model of your project’s existing environment. Incorporate survey-grade data to enhance accuracy.
- Design: Create roads, bridges, drainage, and more. Use tools that are fast, visual, and incorporating engineering principles.
- Analyse: Make better decisions throughout the project with tools for sight distance, flood simulation, dynamic site analysis, and more.
- Collaborate: Share cloud-based models with project teams and stakeholders for real-time feedback, and transform designs into compelling presentations
Infraworks Webinar
On Friday 19th January, we hosted an InfraWorks webinar which was an introductory fly-through of the much talked about software.
This conceptual design software is used by engineers for road design, structural bridge design as well as drainage design. Its amazing rendering engine is also used by architects, designers, bidders and other personnel to portray design intent and win bids and client buy-in, by communicating ideas simplistically in the most visual manner possible, hence Making Infrastructure Work! What better way to get a feel for the software and its interface than using a model of the impressive Marina Palm Island in Dubai!
In this webinar, we touched on the following aspects:
- BIM – A brief intro
We discussed in a nutshell what Building Information Modeling (BIM) is, its impact on the Industry today as well as how it increases coordination, data consistency, productivity and time efficiency.
- Infraworks – What is it?
We covered the software’s relevance in today’s design workflow to give an indication of where it fits in and how it can help you.
- Software Interface
We took a tour of the interface by exploring the Marina Palm Island in Dubai. This model allowed us to showcase the state of the art rendering as well as the design tools available in Infraworks for road design, structural bridge design as well as drainage design.
