Baker Baynes at the 2022 BIMHarambee

Posted On 2022-11-01

After nearly 2 years of only hosting and participating in virtual events due to the pandemic limitations, Baker Baynes was thrilled to be part of the 2022 BIMHarambee, which took place from 6-7 October 2022 at the University of Pretoria.

Our mandate of solving our customers’ problems through digital transformation, helping them to design and make a better world, was aptly aligned to the theme of this year’s BIMHarambee:

‘BIM: From theory to practice.’

We have always prided ourselves in identifying the BIM Readiness of our clients and partnered with them to achieve what in theory is possible, helping them realize their digital transformation potential.

We have kept a close watch on UP’s Hatfield Digital Twin project and this is a stellar example of putting BIM into practice. The opportunity to collaborate in conversation around real BIM challenges and solutions is another key reason why we saw such synergy between Baker Baynes and BIMCommUnity’s BIMHarambee initiative.
Our team wanted to create an engaging experience that would stimulate conversation and what better way to do that than to chat over coffee and cupcakes.

We had many great conversations around BIM and empowered our guests with a useful BIM Assessment tool, which identifies each company’s BIM readiness and the benefit that BIM would play in their organisation. If you are keen to take this complimentary assessment – click here. Results will be emailed to you after completion and there is an opportunity to book a BIM discovery session to discuss the results with our BIM Specialists.

We also officially launched our new online platform, Transformation Tools. This online platform commoditizes tools that support Digital Transformation for all professionals in AEC, Manufacturing, Process Plant, and Mining.

Transformation Tools offers easily accessible, high-quality BIM, CAD/CAM simulation & data management educational content & resources, which are created by subject matter experts, and supported by Baker Baynes’ extensive consulting services.

Our team demonstrated how the BLK works and we had great, meaningful conversations with Architectural, Infrastructure, Quantity Surveying, and Property Development professionals as well as many students who are hungry to embrace everything BIM.

Overall this was a successful showcase of BIM and we are eager to see how this forum will grow in 2023.
